Why we started
Allvarligt Sjuka Barn is a non-profit initiative that grew out of personal experience of living with a seriously ill child.
When a child is affected, life changes in an instant. In addition to worry, treatments and hospital visits, families often face a complex system of authorities, insurances, benefits and regulations. Support is available, but the information is often difficult to find and understand when you are in the middle of a crisis.
No family should have to spend their energy navigating bureaucracy when the focus needs to be on the child.
The purpose of Allvarligt Sjuka Barn is to gather, structure and make accessible important information, guidance, documents and experiences in one place. The goal is to make it easier for families to find the right support, understand their rights and get the help they are entitled to.
Together we can increase knowledge, strengthen families and help ensure that no one is left alone in one of life's most difficult situations.
Our vision
When a child becomes seriously ill, the entire family's life changes. In the midst of worry, treatments and hospital visits, parents are expected to navigate complex systems within healthcare, authorities, insurance and social support.
Our vision is that no family should have to struggle alone to find the right path through these systems.
We want to contribute to a society where families with seriously ill children receive the right information, the right support and the right conditions from the very first day.
By gathering knowledge, spreading information and raising the families' perspective, we want to reduce the administrative and emotional burden that many experience during one of life's most difficult periods.
The goal is to create Sweden's most reliable source of knowledge and support for families with seriously ill children, and to be a strong voice for improvements in healthcare, contact with authorities and social support.
Together we can create a safer everyday life for the families who need society's support the most.
